It was a bitter cold day. I could even feel light rain drops on my skin as I walked through the dusty desert terrain of Papago Park. Even though I looked up to see dark, ominous clouds, I wouldn’t let it ruin this couple’s session. I did a mental panorama of the desert and soon realized just how beautiful the landscape looked in dreary weather. Majestic power shown through in the park’s heralding amber colored mountain range, almost as if the land was trying to tell us something, but what?

Nancy soon arrived in her gorgeous white and navy speckled cocktail dress, and I immediately knew that it would be the perfect day. The stark color contrast of the stunning red-orange mountains with her vibrant dress was truly a photographer’s dream.

After 45 minutes passed, the sun finally made its way through the clouds and the golden hour was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The beaming light was dreamy and it spilled through Nancy’s hair as Yong’s arms lovingly embraced her.

Nancy and Yong are a remarkable couple with a special kind of love. Nancy, a kind-hearted kindergarten teacher, met her partner, Yong about three years ago. Yong, a very genuine, dignified man, was constantly making sure to warm his fiancé with an occasional hug and kiss during the session. Their Korean wedding takes place in a month, and I look forward to capturing every moment of it. Although winter weather can be unpredictable, this couple’s powerful connection shown greater than the clouds. It was the epitome of a desert dream.
